Memories start to rush in when I look back at my childhood. Especially the time when my age entered double digits....the inquisitiveness that made me play tennis, the occasions when we used to race on our cycles from a slope, the indoor or rather inside-the-house cricket that we used to play at a neighbour's house & much more...and yeah how can I ever forget the fascination for toys.

The most prominent of them all being G.I.Joe. It was a fad in school those days and I remember a friend of mine collecting almost all the toys and their vehicles as well!! There were even G.I.Joe novels, where after the end of each chapter you were required to make choices and depending on the choice you make, the story takes a new turn. But if you made a wrong choice somewhere, the story would end and your character would get killed by the nemesis - The Cobra guys!!!

The one that I had was called SnowJob, an Arctic skier. Back then, it costed an exorbitant amount of forty rupees!! I had another one too, this one was called Zap, a bazooka expert!



Anyway, what triggered the flashback and also this post was a movie trailer - "G.I.Joe - The Rise of Cobra". At a time when comics are coming alive on screen and go on to become big money spinners, it comes as no surprise that this one too is being made into a movie.

The director, Stephen Sommers, of "The Mummy" & "The Mummy Returns" fame, helms this movie and it releases on the 7th of August. Hasbro, the toy maker's earlier commercial success was another of their toy range, Transformers. Will this one too become a hit like Transformers? We'll soon know.
